Reading

Whether your child is an emerging reader or college bound preparing to absorb great amounts of material, BrainWork’s has a reading program designed for their success. BrainWork’s trained instructors apply reading intervention strategies necessary for student success. Research based intervention strategies drawing from sources such as Orton-Gillingham, Sonday System, Mel Levine, and others provide a back-drop for success. BrainWork’s teaches the twelve phonetic steps, using manipulatives, audio- learning, and traditional text methods. Sight word recognition and learning by sight are also taught. For older students still struggling with phonemic awareness, BrainWork’s employs a more ‘mature’ approach to reading. All reading students begin their experience by taking a Diagnostic Assessment.
Comprehension, vocabulary, getting the main idea, sequence of events, and understanding characters are all taught as a thorough approach to reading and reading comprehension.
